Elite Girls Win Big at Bethesda

SOCA Elite girls teams made a big impression at the Bethesda Premier Cup tournament over the November 11-13 weekend.  Nine teams were entered in the highly regarded event and five SOCA squads returned home with first place awards with an additional three teams picking up second place honors.

A round robin showcase format is used for U19-U16 age groups, allowing college coaches to view targeted recruits more easily.  The Bethesda event is a feeding frenzy of college observers searching for talent to add to their programs.  SOCA squads offered good viewing with the U19, U17 and U16 Elite Girls teams all finishing in first place in their groups.

The U15-U11 age groups competed in a traditional tournament format.  The U14 Girls went undefeated and beat Salisbury United 3-0 in the final to win their group, while the U12’s advanced to the final and won a convincing 4-1 match over TCSC of West Virginia.  The SOCA U11, U13 and U15 teams all finished in second place in their brackets.

Overall on the weekend SOCA teams posted an impressive 19 wins and six draws against only six losses at the major regional tournament.
