SOCA Places Four Teams in State Cup Finals

Four SOCA Elite teams will compete in the VYSA State Cup championship match on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at the Virginia Soccer Training Center in Fredericksburg.  The four squads advanced from the semifinal round on October 26 to reach the final stage.

The match-ups are as follows:

U16 Boys Elite:  coached by Brent Kellum, the U16’s beat defending state champion Virginia legacy 6-2 to face Arlington Academy in the final, with a 1:00 pm start.

U16 Girls Elite:  coached by Jason Moore, the U16 Girls beat the Crush 2-1 to face the Fredericksburg FC Black in their final at 11:00 am.

U17 Girls Elite:  coached by Jimmy Tharpe, the U17 Girls needed overtime to beat Hurricanes Black 2-1 and advance to face Beach FC Red in the championship match at 9:30 am.

U18 Boys Elite: coached by Matt Rowe, the U18’s beat Barca Academy NoVa 4-2 to advance to the final against Virginia Legacy, kicking off at 9:00 am.

It will be a busy day for SOCA.  With four finalists the club has more teams placed in the championship match than any other club in the state.  The success demonstrates SOCA’s breadth of accomplishment at the Elite Travel level.
